Ben Pol, a Tanzanian singer, has for the first time opened up how he handled the divorce proceedings from his ex-wife, Keroche Heiress Anerlisa Muigai.
Speaking in a recent interview, the Moyo Mashine crooner said he put so much will and effort into the relationship.
The Tanzanian star however noted that ending of his marriage was too difficult to bear on his own.
Ben Pol said assuming everything was okay would have done him more harm than good.
"After whatever happened in my personal life, in my opinion I felt that if someone was really in a relationship, that space and was really invested, you can't end things yesterday and tomorrow you move on with life like nothing happened," he said.
He noted that after his divorce from Anerlisa, he needed to undergo counselling because he was still attached.
"I had to cope and the copying mechanism meant I had to see someone who is a professional with those things. Got some counselling and what not…. So it's true I was seeing a specialist, that I won't deny," he added.
Barely one year into marriage, the singer and his ex-wife divorced. The singer however says he cannot pinpoint to a particular reason that led to the divorce
"I cannot pinpoint one thing and say this is what happened. It is the universe that allowed us to go separate ways. Both of us. I can say it was God's plan," he said.
Even though his ex-wife has moved on with life and already in another relationship, Ben Pol says that he is in no hurry to meet anyone new.
The 32-year-old says he is now focused on working, travelling, and enjoying his life.
However, when a romantic opportunity presents itself, Ben pol says he would be open for it.
"I am kind of single. I have been busy working and traveling but I don't know what to say. That question might not help people but yes am single."
"I am not looking for a lover but I am open to love and if love comes, I will be okay. I am just living my life genuinely and enjoying my life," he said.
Ben Pol and Anerlisa met in 2018 before their friendship blossomed in April 2019 when the two were holidaying in Mombasa.
