Award-winning actor Kenneth Muigai Ambani has been sworn in as the County Executive Committee Member for Public Service Administration Youth Gender Sports and Social Services in Mombasa, Kenya. 

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sherrif Nassir presided over the swearing-in ceremony of his new cabinet on March 15.

Ambani rose to fame in the 1990s and early 2000s for his role as Baraza in the popular TV show Tausi.

He has since acted in several other TV shows and movies, including Makutano Junction, Shuga II, and Subira.

Ambani thanked Governor Abdulswamad for the appointment in a social media post, stating that he does not take the appointment for granted and is ready to serve Mombasa.

“Out of the several million Kenyans, you appointed me to be among your 10 CECMs. I don't take that for granted Sir! Thank you Governor Abdulswamad. Ready to serve Mombasa, so help me God,” he said in a post.

Governor Abdulswamad expressed his confidence in the newly constituted cabinet and believes they will help deliver his campaign promises.

He emphasized that his administration has come to power during a very tough economic time for residents of Mombasa.

“I am proud to announce that Mombasa County now has a fully functional Cabinet comprising able County Executive Committee Members who I believe will bring the change that Mombasa needs. The real work of transformation has just begun.

Let us put our political differences aside and bring change.Mombasa inapendeza huko mbele,” he stated.

Ambani’s passion for acting began at a young age when he won his first stage actor's award at three years old.

He later played a role in the South African production My People in Chains while in Form Three, which led to him being awarded Best Actor at the national level.

Ambani began his professional acting career in the Swahili drama series Tushauriane and later moved to Nairobi to work for Posta Kenya.

While there, he was cast in the hit series Tausi and has acted in several other TV shows and movies since then.

However, Governor Abdulswamad has expressed confidence in his appointment, and Ambani's experience in public service administration, youth, gender, sports, and social services will likely prove to be an asset to Mombasa County
