A system failure at several Naivas Supermarket branches across the country on Thursday led to the prolonged closure of some of the retail giant's outlets, leaving hundreds of shoppers stranded.
The outage was reported to have begun in the
morning and affected the processing of customer payments, with mobile payment
services remaining non-operational.
Some outlets were closed
momentarily, while others remained open but with only a few counters in use.
Customers took to social media to raise concerns over the closures and seek
answers on when operations would resume.
Naivas management posted notices on entrances
informing customers of the issue and apologized for the inconvenience caused.
The retailer also responded to queries on Twitter, citing system downtime.
Naivas Supermarket responded to a shopper on twitter, “Hello Vincent, We experienced technical hitch making transactions impossible in some outlets. We are working to resolve this issue in the shortest time possible.We advise that you kindly consider using cash payment as we resolve this.Sincere apologies for the inconvenience ^MT
Vincent Mwando had wrote to Naivas
on Twitter , “your system has been down for more than 24 hours. It doesn't
accept vouchers and ATM cards. Kindly work on it. Naivas Nairobi west. Kindly
advice.”
Banda Owana another shopper
posted, Good morning are you aware that customers are unable to shop with their
naivas vouchers,the systems have not been working since yesterday and it's end
month we need to shop urgently.”
